Goals:
- Enhance the development of systematic critiquing, critical appraisal and evaluating skills
- Assimilate information for change in clinical practice
- Disseminate and utilize the results of research
- Generate ideas
- Challenge tradition
- Provide a forum for development of collegiality between nurses
Guidelines:
- Please keep all comments professional and on topic
- Do not use patient names
- Do not type with ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, this indicates yelling on-line and is not polite and professional
Discussion Starting Points- Please choose FOUR articles and two questions to answer for each article
- How does this research article compare to our practice, policy and/or procedure?
- what are the advantages and disadvantages to the proposed recommendations in the article?
- what are the advantages and disadvantages of implementing the article recommendations on your unit and/or hospital?
- Describe the method used by the author of the study
- Was the correct method used? Why or why not?
- Discuss the sample size used in the study.
- Discuss the limitations of the article: limited sample size, design flaws, and/or author bias
